Seahawks Release Rice
The Seattle Seahawks announced Friday that the club has released veteran WR Jerry Rice.
“We are grateful to Jerry and the role he was willing to fill for the Seahawks last year,” said Seahawks Head Coach Mike Holmgren. “He is one of the greatest players in the history of our game and we wish him nothing but the best.”
Rice played in 11 games, starting nine, after joining the team via trade with the Oakland Raiders. As a member of the Seahawks, Rice finished the season with 25 catches for 362 yards and three touchdowns. While with the Seahawks, he became the NFL’s all-time leader in combined yards, his 35th NFL record.
